SALT Schools
The
School of Advanced Leadership Training
(SALT) is a leadership development strategy aimed at equipping serving
pastors with the insights, knowledge and skills which enable them to effectively
lead their congregations on the journey toward daily discipleship and spiritual
maturity.
The
Focus is upon:
1.
The leader’s personal relationship with the Lord
Jesus Christ and growth toward spiritual maturity.
2.
The leader’s heart and attitudes as a person and
as a leader. (Issues of Character & Integrity)
3.
The leader’s developing understanding of the Word
of God.
4.
The leader’s role as a godly, servant leader of
the people of God.
5.
The leader’s effectiveness as one who equips the
people of God for their work of ministry.
Operating verse:
“And
the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to
reliable men who will be qualified to teach others.” 2 Timothy 2:2
Key Principles of SALT
There
are three key principles involved in the outworking of this vision:
 |
Model:
Teachers who are experienced leaders and who are able to teach out of life
and ministry experience
|
 |
Teach:
Curriculum which gives a balance of personal
challenge, Biblical insight and practical application. |
 |
Mentor
: An ongoing relationship which facilitates accountability & continued
development.
|
On Completion
Students
who complete the SALT course are awarded a Diploma of Christian Leadership.
SALT in Operation
SALT requires a fixed group of at
least 60 – 80 students who are committed to participating in each of the 6
sessions of the school over a period of 2 to 3 years.
1.
Students:
It is envisaged that those invited to be part of the SALT strategy will be
serving pastors who have recognized ministries and a good personal reputation.
·
They
should be Faithful, Available and Teachable people
·
They
should have a vision to make disciples and develop leaders
·
They
must be willing to make a commitment to attend SALT school as a priority
·
They
must be willing to do set memory and mentoring work between each phase of the
SALT school
·
They
must be willing to make a significant personal financial contribution to the
cost of attending the School
2.
Teachers:
LttN Ministries will provide teachers who are experienced
pastors and Christian leaders and who are able to impart life not simply teach
facts.
·
LttN
will ensure that teachers have some cultural understanding
·
LttN
will ensure that the teaching is relevant to the local situation
·
LttN
will seek to ensure that schools are conducted at least twice each year over 2
to 3 years.
3.
Operation:
The following are important for the operation of each SALT school:
·
The
school commences at
9.00am
Monday and concludes at
3.00pm
on Friday. Students travelling from distances need to arrive the previous day
and depart on the day following conclusion of the school.
·
Students
are expected to attend all classes unless specifically released by the school
faculty. This is a school not a seminar and a detailed class attendance record
maintained by the faculty.
·
Wherever
possible provision should be made for students to stay at the site of the
school. Those commuting to their homes must be at the teaching location on time
each morning.
·
In
order to receive the Diploma of Christian
Leadership, students must:
 |
Attend
no less than 80 percent of all classes
|
 |
Actively
participate in the classes |
 |
Satisfactorily
complete all Scripture Memory work, mentoring and other assignments set
by the teaching faculty |
4.

for leadership and ministry. The following is an indication of some of the
